Story

Background actor Willis Wu witnesses a crime in Chinatown while working on a TV show. As he investigates, he unravels a criminal web and experiences life in the spotlight he had dreamed of.. Yang), Fatty (Ronny Chieng), and Carl (Chau Long) see Detective Lana Lee (Chloe Bennet) on TV and debate her possible ethnicity: Carl declares, "she looks Thai," while Fatty argues, "Dude, she's clearly Korean. Know your Asians." In fact, Bennet is the child of a white mother and a Chinese father.

The acting is great

Earlier in her acting career she changed her last name from Wang to Bennet (her father’s first name) after encountering casting agents who said they were unable to cast her as Asian or Asian American characters, but her name precluded her consideration for white characters either. .This show could be SO great if only it didn’t meander around SO slow. The idea, the theme, and the premise that reality is shape-shifty and bendy is great. They NEED me as their Show-Runner.

Think about this: the audience for a show like this has to be mentally flexible

Really. Honestly. Why should a show with such great content take so long to feed us the narrative and move it along. You assume that folks who like this kind of stuff are into trippy interesting stuff.

Not enough story?

So, why take so long to tell your story. Or perhaps ineptitude. The pace is too slow! It takes them 45 minutes to tell you so very little.

It just doesn’t deliver

You just want it to be better. Smarter. Getting the story to move along is like watching hot snail or turtle sex. There’s a whole lot to love about Hulu’s streaming offerings this month — get excited for brand-new series premieres and film favorites to watch at home.
