When Boyd enters the distant tree, he finds himself at the bottom of a well
The site, known as Beaver Bank Villa, has a long history and many years ago contained housing units, a community hall, fire station, school, church, grocery store, etc. (all demolished in 2004) to support workers at the nearby military radar base that operated there in the 1950s and 1960s. All that remains are the paved streets and alleys on which a man-made town has been built.

A pleasant surprise
The trailer looked like a mash-up of several different shows, such as Wayward Pines, Lost, and a bit of Under the Dome. I expected it to have a vague plot, since it is produced by the same creators as Lost, but it has a solid story and the characters are likable. While it is not perfect, there is tension and it is good enough to keep me hooked.
